When and how did you start photography?

  • It all started when it was my first time to travel abroad. It was a company-sponsored training somewhere in Europe and I was so excited to see new things, see new places and meet people of different faces and culture. Being my first-time to travel outside the Philippines, I wanted to capture those special moments which I could show to my future wife and kids (I was still single then).

Tell us more about your photography history

  • My interest in photography started when I began travelling. I bought my first Canon EOS SLR in mid-90s and used it on most occasions. In year 2001 I got my first digital camera - Canon IXUS300- which I used for 6 years before finally getting my Canon EOS400D which I am still using until now. It was only when I joined PinoyCsers that I got into this hobby seriously.

Basic body and lens setup (name just one body and one lens that you always use)

  • Since I am more into macro photography, I always carry my Canon 400D and Tamron 180mm.

Would you consider turning pro?

  • It is always a possibility but I am not considering it for now or immediate future. Currently, I’m happy and contented with it as my hobby.

Favorite subjects to capture:

  • For macrophotography, I love to take pictures of insects with great amount of details in their body, I am also fond of taking pictures of mating insects and insects with prey . For me, that makes the subject very interesting to show to the people. Also, it really makes me happy and satisfied whenever I can show the great details of an insect which are almost impossible to see with your naked eye.
For portraiture, I prefer taking photos of young kids. I really love to see pictures of innocence and purity which I can find i them.

Favorite photo captured to date:

  • This is a picture of a dronefly which I captured when we had an EB in Punggol in Dec 2007.

My favourite Filipina model, Yvette Taverna taken in early 2008

  • Although I almost captured one last year during one of our EBs in Holland Woods, I would love to capture an image of 3 mating insects (threesome)

Name one non-electric camera gear that you cannot live without.

  • It’s my Canon remote switch.

Approximately, how many gb of photos do you have to date?

  • I have none so far.

Where can we see your portfolio?

How did you found out PinoyCSers?

  • We are having a get-together party at Bullion Park in 2006 and it was in that gathering I met Erick Matias. It was Erick who introduced PinoyCSers to me.

Give readers one tip to capture great photos.

  • Think of what you want people to see in your picture before pressing the shutter. When you say you welcome comments and critiques, please welcome them with an open mind.
