Hot Seat Tuesday: Renn Rementilla

When and how did you start photography?
-
I am not actually a photographer, I consider myself more of an artist, I used to draw portraits and landscape way back using acrylic paints, crayons, pastel, charcoal and pencils.
But to answer the question, I believe it was when I became a father in year 2000 when my eldest daughter was born. I was able to borrow a 3MP Canon camera and took a shot of her.
Tell us more about your photography history
-
Seeing the photo of my daughter immediately on the LCD and eventually monitor, I started acquiring phones with camera. Life was tough for me, it’s the only thing I can afford. Then I met image editing software by uLead, then heard of Adobe Photoshop and Corel Draw. It was when I started using mouse as my brush and LCD monitor as my canvas.
Year 2005 when I landed a job here in Singapore, I was able to buy an Olympus PnS but preferred using Sony Ericson K800i. It was July 2007 when I was able to buy Canon Rebel XTi (400D). By August 2007 I joined photoshoot with PinoyCSers folks. It was 2 years ago.

David Tong for his technical knowledges about photo and gears.
Genald Tunggol specially when using wide angle lenses, he knows where to put his model.
Leo Baquerfo, Roy Sahagun, Rey Aguila and Art Cabinian for their patience taking macro shots.
Benjie Balmoris on his style taking portraits especially family portraits.
RoMie Angeles for his passion and dedication on this field.

Do you have a visual on a dream image you want to capture?
- Location shoot of Megan Fox in the moon wearing astronaut suit (sana meron na transparent), background will be our planet… okay ba?
Name one non-electric camera gear that you cannot live without.
-
I will go for the bag, I won’t risk my gears or just hang it around my neck. When I am bringing my camera, it always goes with the bag.
We have 3 actually and use whatever fits, indoor lightweight - crumpler 5M; outdoor lightweight - lowepro sideshooter; heavyweight - lowepro CompuTrekker AW
Approximately, how many gb of photos do you have to date?
- Around 200G, more if one of my hard disk is still okay
Ever experienced an embarrassing moment related to photography?
- the classic one, aiming while having lens cap but I guess models are used with it, kaya di na siya masyadong embarassing.
Where can we see your portfolio?
- I don’t have, but you can view my photos and work of art at my flickr. I dubbed myself as late-bloomer, feel ko kasi it was too late for me to start in photography. If we are connected in facebook, you can view my selected shots there, more organized in albums.
How did you found out PinoyCSers?
- Clubsnap, there’s a thread there with a list of Filipino photographers. I read that they want to form a sub group. Then I tried searching for Filipino photographers and the result is PinoyCSers.
Give readers one tip to capture great photos.

This is in general and not only one.
For new things, try it and experience it
For the experience, either bad or good, learn from it
For what you do or you shoot, love it!
